Export a workflow configuration

Workflow Manager allows you to export the configuration of a workflow item as a .wmc file that can be used to configure other workflow items or workflow items on other Workflow Manager deployments. To import .wmc configuration files, the version of the workflow item to which the file is imported must be the same version or a newer version than the version of the workflow item from which the file was exported.

Complete the following steps to export a workflow item's configuration:

  1. Access the Workflow Manager web app.
  2. Click the Design tab.

    The Design page appears.

    Note:

If you don't have sufficient privileges, the Design tab is not available.

  3. Click Settings Settings.
    Note:

If you don’t have sufficient privileges, Settings Settings is not available.

  4. Click the Export Data tab.

The Choose job templates tab appears.

  5. Check the check box next to each job template that you want to include in the export.
  6. Click Next.

    The Choose diagrams tab appears.

  7. Check the check box next to the workflow diagrams that you want to include in the export.

The check boxes for the workflow diagrams associated with the job templates that you chose are checked by default.

    Tip:

Turn on the Show all diagrams toggle button to show all available workflow diagrams.

  8. Click Next.

The Export and other options tab appears.

  9. Optionally, uncheck the Include settings data: Groups, Roles, Email Notifications, User Defined Settings, Shared Searches, and Shared Charts check box to exclude settings data from the export.

Settings data is included in the export by default.

    Caution:

Excluding settings data may cause exported job templates and workflow diagrams to fail.

  10. Optionally, check the Export encrypted settings check box and provide a passphrase in the text box.
    Note:

The same passphrase must be provided when the workflow configuration is imported.

  11. Click Export selected data to export the workflow item's configuration.

The .wmc file is automatically saved to the browser's default download location.
